Gaussian-Splat-Lite, a 3DGS renderer for Three.js, has released v1.6.1. It adds progressive loading of LCC2 scenes based on camera position. The sources do not confirm the addition of SH compression.
Why it mattersFor creators and developers who want to show real-world 3DGS captures on the web, this adds an option that can be built into existing Three.js scenes. Cameras and objects can be handled in the same workflow as with other Three.js libraries.

A 3DGS scene of the Kitabatake Clan Residence Ruins Garden in Tsu, Mie Prefecture, captured in October 2026, has been published on Arrival.Space. It was shot with an Insta360 X5, and the data is described as a splat of about 5 million particles.
Why it mattersThis is one example of a garden captured with a 360-degree camera and published as 3DGS that can be viewed in a browser. It may serve as a reference for easily sharing records of historic sites and gardens. However, the accuracy of the record and its suitability for preservation purposes cannot be judged from the information on this page alone.

The creator has published 3DGS data of cherry blossoms shot in Kyoto on SuperSplat. The work links four scans from before and after blooming and morphs them in real time in Unity.
Why it matters3DGS is often used as a record of a static space. This work is an example of combining multiple scans taken at different times to show "seasonal change." It offers a reference for comparing the state of cultural properties, gardens, or plants at different times. Also, the attempt to move splats in Unity by applying physical forces gives material for thinking about how live-action 3D could be used in games and XR productions. However, this is an individual experimental work, and how much of the production process is disclosed and the terms of use for the data cannot be confirmed from the source material.
